Aliases

An alias is a short word that expands into one or more commands when you type it.

Create an alias

#alias {name} {expansion}

#al also works. The expansion can be MUD text, other # commands, or several commands split by ;.

  • %1 to %9 are the words you type after the alias.
  • %0 is all of them together.

Aliases belong to the current character.

List, show and delete

  • #alias lists every alias.
  • #alias {name} with no expansion prints that one alias in full: whether it's on, its match type, the whole body, and each ; command on its own numbered line.
  • #unalias {name} deletes an alias. The name is not case-sensitive.

Use the editor instead

Choose Script › Aliases, or open the Inspector with ⌘⇧I and pick Aliases. Each alias has an on/off switch, Edit and delete. Alias bodies open in a large multi-line editor.

Examples

#alias {gt} {get %1 %2}          then: gt sword bag  →  get sword bag
#alias gt get all corpse braces are optional for simple cases
#alias {heal} {cast 'heal' me}
#alias {kk} {kill %1}            then: kk rat
#alias {runshop} {#7 e;#6 n}     a speedwalk
#alias {west} {w;w;w}
#alias {bb} {#showme backpack}   local text only you see
#alias {buy10} {#10 buy %1}      then: buy10 arrows
#var {food} {bread};#alias {eat} {eat $food}
#alias                           list aliases
#alias gt show one alias in full
#unalias {gt}                    delete it

Safety

An alias that calls itself is stopped after 16 nested aliases or 5,000 commands from one line, with one warning. Click the warning to open that alias in the editor.
